Frosted Robin® cupcake café is a dream come true for us. As the parents of three children, we have created a business that thrives by bringing smiles to people’s faces.
We also both appreciate a work environment that is based on creating positive experiences for its customers and staff.
Our goal is not only to sell quality desserts and drinks. It is no less important to us to deliver a jolt of joy, a needed break from the rat race, and a valued memory of time spent with friends and family over a special dessert.
The concept for our café’s design was born from the fact that my family’s favorite gathering spot was always our kitchen. My Mom would cook and my brother,
three sisters, and I would sit on the floor or on the counters and talk about anything and everything.
Some of the best times of my life happened in that little kitchen.
We have reproduced that home-kitchen atmosphere in our café. We also try our best to offer a family vibe through our personable and fun style of customer service.
We hope you will explore and enjoy the many exotic flavors available at our cafés. They are inspired by our previous home in the Caribbean as well as many of the countries we have visited around the world. Your children are sure to be impressed by the added emphasis we place on icing artistry at Frosted Robin cupcake cafes. (Our children sure are!) Everyday you will find a selection of whimsical cupcake designs on display that are fun to look at and even more fun to eat.
Grab a friend or family member and head to Frosted Robin cupcake café. We look forward to seeing you!
I love great food. I also love to travel and when planning my family’s visit to any new city or country, one of the first things I do is plan where we’re going to eat. Food is big in my life and this passion comes through loud and clear at Frosted Robin cupcake café. I’m also a recovering legal marketing executive. Having been the Global Director of Marketing for two major international law firms, I know all about the highs and lows of the big-time corporate life.Much as I enjoyed the challenges and rewards of that career, I’m ecstatic about my new path. I love sinking my teeth into a new mission and this is a good one. I am absolutely thrilled about my new life as a reformed corporate type-A personality. It feels wonderful to immerse myself in a radically different career. I feel 20 years old again!
The youngest of five children, I was born in Jamaica and raised in the beautiful Cayman Islands. My husband, our two gorgeous children, mystepdaughter, three sisters and my brother, are all wonderful and amazing people. My Mom is a goddess, the strongest woman I have ever encountered. My father, taken from us too soon, is forever in my heart.
I’m an award-winning journalist and photographer, a published author, and fitness enthusiast. I know what you’re thinking: “So how in the world did you end up owning a cupcake café?”
As with most of life’s unusual twists and turns, there is a woman to blame. I wound up behind a counter at a dessert shop in Seaport Village, San Diego because my wife had a vision and where her dreams point, I follow. For me, that’s what love is all about. Besides, it’s only fair; she followed me into the Amazon jungle, up mountains, and even to a Star Trek convention once. So the least I could do was follow her into the cupcake business. It’s not like I ever had a choice anyway.
When Sheree launched her diabolical in-house Frosted Robin marketing campaign against me a couple of years ago, I was doomed from the start. It was a big risk, a big move for our family and a big change in, well, everything, but how could I resist her brilliance and beauty? She had me at “cupcake”.
Upon reflection, however, this was not a tough sell: Mouth-watering gourmet cupcakes shaped into little works of art; southern California weather and lifestyle; Seaport Village, San Diego; Mountain sunrises and Pacific sunsets . . . I never had a chance.
Sheree cast a spell on me (not the first time) and transformed me into this new bizarre hybrid creature that I have become: a science and history writer with a passion for cupcake creations. I never saw it coming. Never in a million years would I have imagined this happening to me. But here I am, finishing up a chapter on my next book one moment and finessing the icing swirl atop a delicious cupcake the next.
I’ve never been happier. It’s wonderful to be neck deep in a business focused on offering people fantastic treats in a fun atmosphere. The world can always use more happiness and smiles so I’m proud to be doing my part.
